Truck-train collision
Frank Somerville, 43, of Lanark, was killed Wednesday afternoon when the truck he was driving hit the side of a VIA train about 15  kilometres west of Ottawa. Passenger David Mclntyre, 19, of Lanark, was in satisfactory condition at Queensway-Carleton Hospital. Police said the truck failed to stop at a level crossing on Ashton Station Road.
