1964, August 23 - Crossing collision at Casselman, CNR Alexandria sub., no injury

Ottawa Citizen 24 August 1964 Driver jumps for life before train rams car CASSELMAN (Special) - A 49-year-old salesman had to jump for his life seconds before a CNR passenger train slammed into his car Sunday morning. The car was dragged for more than half a mile before the train was able to stop. It happened as Hector Labelle, of Embrun, six miles west of here, was driving home from Casselman. He told police later that as he drove along County Road No. 3, about two miles from here, he was blinded by the headlights of an approaching vehicle. He swerved to the right on to the rail track which crosses the road. He tried unsuccessfully to move his car when he saw the train approaching. Mr. Labelle jumped from his car just before the train arrived at the spot.
