No Date Set Yet For Inquest On Train Victim
Chief Coroner Dr. W. T. Shirreff stated yesterday that no date had been decided upon as yet for the inquest into the death early Saturday morning of 22-year-old Lucien Joanisse, 53 Carruthers avenue, who was killed instantly, when the truck he was driving was struck by a CNR passenger train from Vancouver at a level crossing on the Walkley road near Billings Bridge. ,
Mr. Joanisse, a driver for Ostafichuk's Cartage, 760 Gladstone avenue, was hauling sand and gravel for the Dibblee Construction Company on the Walkley road and was en route there for a load when the accident occurred.
Provincial Police Constable J. B. McNeil was continuing his investigation into the crash over the wreekend but it was still un known how Joanisse failed to no-tice the speeding train approaching the crossing. The crossing is an open one and affords a clear view up and down the tracks.
