Shawville Equity, 13 May 1909 The mixed train coming east last Thursday was derailed near Vinton, three box cars and the baggage taking the ditch. Very fortunately no injuries were sustained although the train crew had a narrow escape. As a result, traffic was blocked for several hours, both on Thursday evening and Friday morning, the eastbound express being held up for two hours on the latter date. A wrecking train and crew came up on Thursday evening to clear the wreck. The derailed cars were damaged to the extent of several hundred dollars. |
