Almonte Gazette 19 September 1884 ACCIDENT ON THE C.P.R. - a broken rail on the C.P.R. a few miles south of Carleton Place was the means of throwing a baggage car and three well-filled passenger coaches off the track early last Saturday morning. When the engineer, King, noticed the mishap, he put on the Westinghouse brakes, and the train was brought to a standstill before three car lengths had been traveled after the accident. The coaches were badly damaged. None of the passengers were injured. |
