Theres A Water Bar In The Union Station, Published 14 October 1948
I suppose it is harder to get a drink of water in the Union Station than any depot of its size in Canada. R. A. Armour, of Alexandria, made a complaint about it a while back and now writes to ask if there is any improvement. The answer is, no
The station personnel say that people used to make a mess around the drinking fountain. This is like saying the restaurant gives up serving meals because they left the dishes so dirty.
They will give, you a drink of water, if you ask for it, at the soda fountain at the news counter, but that is courtesy of Gene Phelan. Canada Railway News. The Canadian National should not have to depend on the kindness of Gene to dish out water. There ought to be one place in the lobby, and one in the waiting rooms, where water is available.
