Record for Most Railways Ridden, Published 12 September 1957 Having
ridden some 158 different railways in North America,. I wondered if I
did not hold the record. I accordingly wrote to David P. Morgan, the
erudite editor of Trains, a railway magazine published at 1027 North
Seventh Street, Milwaukee 3. Wisconsin. Writes the experienced editor: "The only person who I can think of, that might approach your record is Roger Whittaker, of the New Yorker Magazine. He is attempting to ride every mile of common carrier route trackage in the United States, and has ridden on innumerable U.S. roads. Whether or not he has you beaten is a moot question." Actually the Railway Guide shows more than 700 railways in North America. |
