Coteau Jct. is listed as a fuel station with coal shovelled on flat cars, in addition to the 15,790 square feet of coal trestle, mile 56.58. There was a 6-stall roundhouse

Ottawa East, Alexandria and renfrew subs.The coal station at the Ottawa East roundhouse was 89 3/4 x 12 feet with adjacent sand house 30 x 12 x 12 1/4 feet. The big coal shed (with 13 chutes) was 698 x 39 feet with a 240 foot trestle approach.

Rockland's coal dock was 52 x 12 feet at mile 15.16, 0.8 miles south of the station and 0.86 miles from end of track.

Walkley, Alexandria and Beachburg subs.There was no coal facility at Walkley. There was a "C" in the employee timetables at the beginning but this referred to diesel fuel being available.

Aylmer Gazette 4 August 1893 Orders have been issued for the erection of fifteen coal chutes at Carleton Place. At present the locomotives have to be filled by the slow bucket process.

Almonte Gazette 19 April 1895  A few days ago Peter Lynch of Smith's Falls, had two ribs broken by falling down the coal chute in the C.P.R. yards of that town.

CPR 417 with M612 from Sharbot Lake, coaling at Tichborne while crossing the Smiths Falls -Trenton main line on May 25 1957. When done it will nback past the station and switch on to the ex-K&P and resume its run to Kingston. R.J. Sandusky

Ex-CPR 4-6-0 1057 was used for excursions in the summers of 1973 and 1974. It was normally coaled using a front end loader from a coal pile at the museum.
However, on one occasion the loader was not available and the Bytown Railway Society Bucket Brigade was called into action
