Engines, Published 4 December 1954 There
are a few people in the world that I honestly admit know a good deal
more about locomotive engines than I do. Such a man I ran across again
the other day on Albert Street. He is Fred Sankoff whom I used to know
in Montreal. He is a mine of information. I'll tell you the kind of guy
Sankoff is; when he went to Washington, he passed up the Congress and
the White House. Instead he went to the roundhouse! Only man who knows more than Sankoff about engines that I can think of offhand is a chap called Merrilees. I also used to know him in Montreal and he turned up on TV not so long ago. Merelees (sic) is all but omniscient about trains |
