Broad Gauge Railway Relics in the Açores

The Water Tank

There is another relic from the early days in the Port Authority yard at Ponta Delgada.  This is a cast metal water tank that was originally used by J. and C. Rigby at Holyhead.  Although it is located in the Port Authority yard it is readily visible from the public highway from which I took these pictures in June 2008.

It is supported on railway rails and, although the pattern is different, the name "J & C Rigby" and "Harbour Works Holyhead" is cast on each side.

The date "1862" does not appear on each side.
