Ottawa Engineer Averts A Serious Accident
FORT COULONGE, Que., March 31. What might have been a serious accident waa averted by the vigilance of W. Burgess, Bayswater avenue, Ottawa, engineer on the Ottawa-Wattham train this morning, when he brought his train to a stop just on the verge of a washout 30 feet long by 20 feet deep, at Mile 64. two mil
es east of here, at seven o'clock. For an hour this morning a heavy rain fell. A wrecking crew was despatched, and it was thought likely the damage would be repaired by two o clock this afternoon.
